Knightsbridge Junction has been put in the list of top ten most dangerous junctions in London and the worst in the City of Westminster for cyclists in a new interactive London Cycling Campaign (LCC) map.

The map shows there were seven ‘serious casualties’ and twelve ‘slight casualties’ for cyclists in the cluster of junctions between the main Knightsbridge junction and the link through to South Carriage Drive between 2018 and 2022.

The London Cycling Campaign said: “This is a complex and high-speed set of junctions with a lot of people cycling through.”

Cyclists have used the pedestrian crossing parallel to the junction with their bikes instead of riding through the junction.

An interactive map created by Daniel Hills who is a volunteer for the London Cycling Campaign illustrates for the first time the most dangerous junctions for cycling through.

Within the map you can use various filters to get clearer breakdowns of all junction casualties within every borough.

The map shows a Marylebone junction between York Bridge, York Gate and Outer Circle as the second worst junction in Westminster with 5 serious casualties and 18 slight cycle casualties in the last year.

Nickie Aiken, MP for the Cities of London and Westminster said: “We need to make cycling as safe as possible but we also have to ensure all traffic can flow in order to improve air quality."
